(Per Press Association.) London, September 20. The Newcastle backers of James Wray the Australian sculler, are trying to arrange a match with Towns. They offer Towns 3sec start in a race for jEIOO aside, to be rowed on the Tyne. Tom Sullivan, the ex New Zealander, has challenged W. Harris, of Putney, to race on the Tyne for £200 a side. Ernest Cavill and McCusker have been matched to swim a quarter of a mile at Westminster on October 26th, and half a mile at Leicester on Oct. 30. Shonld the events prove indecisive they will meet in a 300 yds race at Manchester. The stakes are £'100 a side. J. A. Jarvis, the Midland Counties Champion, and Percy Cavill have ar« ranged to swim a quarter of a mile match, which will take place in a fortnight.
