Timaru, Sept. 10. | At a special meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club to-night it was resolved to license bookmakers for the Spring Meeting only, but to give no guarantee of protection against others who do not pay the license. Should any license man be caught by the police laying totalisator odds he will forfeit the license fee and be ejected from the course. DUNEDIN HUNT CLUD MEETING. Wiley, ex-postmaster, Black Creek, N.Y., was so badly afflicted with rheumatism that he was only able to bobble around with with canes, and even then it caused him great pain.
