Mutton — New Zealand crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, Canterbury, 3; d per lb : Dunedin and Southland, 3Jd per lb ; North Island, S'd per lb. The above quotations are for average quality and lines of uot less than 100 carcases. Lamb — Prime Canterbury (32 to 421 b por carcase) 3Jd ; fair average, including Dunedin, Southland, Wellington and secondary Canterbury (32 to 421 b per carcase), 2|d per lb. Tbe quotations for lamb do not include sales of small lambs or heavies or inferior qualitiesRiver Plate sheep, crossbred or merino wethers, heavy, 2 9 16d ; light, 2gd per lb. For sheepskins there is a good demand, and the bulk have been sold, tbe best merino crossbred at \d above thu July rates, other sorts are unchanged. September 6. The temporary shortage of silver in New York has had a hardening effect 1 npon the market. > The London brokers consider tbe rise i artificial. Wheat bas an improving demand. Mark Lane market prices show an advance of 6d.
