Primitive Methodist Church.
The quarterly meeting of tbe above Church was held yesterday, when there was a large attendance oil officials from Feilding and Rungotea. In addition to tbe osaal routine business of tbe meeting, arrangements were coade for anniversaries and special services. Permission was given to the members of tbe Colyton Church and congregation to make a special effort to reduce tbe church debt. A Sunday in the early part of November is to be the Thanksgiving Sunday, when a special collection is to be taken up to sweep away tbe debt if possible. An important part of tbe business was tbe invitation of a minister for the next year. Tb« meeting was agreed that tbe circuit was in a prosperous state and the Rev J. Cocker, tbe present minister, received and accepted a hearty and unanimous inyitation to remain a fourth year upon tbe station. The income of the quarter was on tbe smiling side of tbe expenditure, so that all expenses were met. Tbe reports showed that the spiritual lifo of several of the churches in the circuit was healthy. The public meeting, which was fairly well attended, wan presided over by Mr J. Gould. Addresses wer9 delivered by Messrs A. Arnold, J. Glover, W. T. W. Bull and Rev J. Cocker. Mrs Warburton sang a song very sweetly, and no doubt there will be a good attendance to bear her eing again on Sunday evening next. Tbe minister was given permission to iake a month's'^ holiday at an early date.
