A and P. Association.

w At the meeting of the General Committee of above on Saturday afternoon considerable discussion took place on the motion of Mr ft. S. Abraham re the point a prize for Lincoln and Romney sheep, shorthorn cmtla. and draught horses. Mr Wbeoler thonght that it would be a pity to take such a siup as waß pro posffd this year. In the first place the date of the show clashed with ibe Wellington Association, which had already introduced a poinis pnze on similar lines. It would seem as if Palmereton were copying Wellington. Mr li. B. Abraham said he believed that, farmers of the South Island, if sufficient inducement were offered them, would send their sheep to the Palmeriton Show. Mr Baker faid bo considered it necessary to enter into competition with Wellington. The competition was a healthy one. The only objection ho had was that the amount was too large, but if the fundi of the Society would allow it the proposition was a really fine one. Mr R. S. Abraham stated that in thi past the Society had lost by being overcautious. Mr Hodder considered that sheep was the" beat clasa in which the Society should invite competition. The Chairman said that if the proposal was carried out it would be a great benefit to the Association. He agreed with Mr Wheeler that the proposal was a liberal one. Mr Baker stated that there was a great lack of good draught horses in this district. therefore he would be m favor of draught horseß being included in the motion. , , Mr Wheeler moved as an amendment that the programme remain originally drawn up. Seconded by Mr Skerman. The amendment was lost. Mr Hodder proposed that instead of having one prize of £50 for each class there should be a first prize of £40 and a second of £10. This he stated, would induce more competitors to enter Seconded by Mr Johnston and carried. The following donations were promised in the room — Messrs McHardy £20 Batchelar, £10 10s; A. S. Baker, £10 103* Barrand and Abraham, ±10 10a; S. R. Lancaster, £5 ss ; J. Knight, £4. Mr Williamson, of Waituna, wrote reBi^nin" his position as a member of the Association. He stated he did not agree with the day upon which the Committee bad decided to hold the annual Show. Tne following new members were elected-— Messrs G. Anderson, G. Dear, E. Atevenson, A. Goldfinch, J. R. Butsell, and Thompson Bros. (8). It was resolvtd to ask Mr Murphy, of Christchurcb, to be present at the annual Show as the gusst of the Association.
