♦ (Per Press Association.) Melbourne, July 30. Charles Hall, of Eaglehawk, charged with the murder of his wife, was found guilty and sentenced to death. Brisbane, July 30. Ten business places in Croydon bave been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £15*000. This Day. A later estimate of the damage by the Croyden fire is £25,000, Twelve places were destroyed. The Italian Consul-General is negotiating with the Government for the establishment of a lino of steamers between Italy and Australia, and the settlement of a number of Italian immigrants on experimental farms similar to that which exists in New South Wales, where Italian products are cultivated. Melbourne, This Day. The Legislative Council rejected the Exported Products Bill providing for the inspection and grading of live stock, meat, dairy produce and fruit for export.
