(Per Press Association.) Paris, July 20. At the banquet tendered by the Paris Chamber of Commerce to the visiting Colonial Premiers, M. Monson, the British Ambassador, wan to have presided, but nsi prevented owing to himself and his family being seriously indisposed after partaking of shell-fish. It is suspected that they are suffering from poisoning, but are now recovering. Id the absence of M. Monson, Mr Harding, President of the Chamber, proposed the toast of the visiting Premiers. bir Wilfred Lanner, speaking in French, said that the day had ooine vrben Canada would aspirn to a higher position, and the existing ties with Britain would then either be severed or drawn closer. Jack Hellings, the well-known Sydney swimmer, won the open Amateur Handicap at Manchester from scratch. He swam in splendid style and was awarded the Jubilea shield. There were 117 entrisg.
