Feilding Borough Council.

The regular monthly meeting of the above body was held last evening. Present— The Mayor (Mr W. A. L. Bailey), Crs J, Bramwell, W. G. Shearer, P. Thomson, E. Goodbehere, G. H. Saywell, G. W. Fowles. W, Eeid W. G. Haybittle. Correspondence was received and dealt with as follows : — From Financt Committee, a report, recommending accounts amounting to £112 14s Id be passed for paymentGranted. From Inspector of Nuisances, a report. From J. A. B. Wilson and 8. Wilson requesting their names be placed on rate roll for part section 14, in place of J. Robinson, who agreed to same.— Alteration agreed to. From A. G. Carty and J. 0. Thompson requesting change of name on rate roll .for section 70 from latter to former. — Alteration agreed to, From F. Thompson and J. Freeman requesting; change of name on roll from former to latter for section 295. — Alteration agreed to. From Helen £. Taylor reminding the Council that Pharazyn street had not yet been metalled as promised. — Referred to Public Works Committee. From Thomas Watson, applying for an auctioneer's license. — Granted. From F. F. Haggitt, bon. seo. Record Reign Commemoration Committee asking if the Council would subsidise the amount raised by subscription fox improving the Oral, From A. G. Carty, E. F. Blnndell and eleven others requesting the Council to metal the footpath already formed iv Manchester street from Grey street to Caniden street-— Referred to the Publio Works Committee with power to act. From W< A. Saudilands, asking the Council to remit a portion of rates on a property owned by him and fronting the Kiinbolton road, said premises baying been unoccupied for twelve months.— Resolved that an allowance be made aa requested. From A. Wilson and Co., asking the Council to form and metal footpath in Warwick street in front of two buildings being erected by them, there being a ditch in front of said section. Referred to Publio Works Committee. From G. H. Lyne, drawing attention to the dangerous state of the ford in North street and asking that it be improved. — Resolved, That the Public Works Committee report on the cost of putting crossing in repair. Froas H. H. Wolters, County Clerk, Csrtertoo, stating the Wairarapa South Connty Council were resitting the payment of the returning officer's charges as excessive (£l5O 3s sd) in connection with the late licensing election, and asking fox particulars of charges paid by this Council.— lnformation supplied. From W. H. Truebridgo, on behalf of Gas Syndicate, stating he expected tha gas work* would be sufficiently advanced to supply gas within fire weeki ; and asking what street lamps were required and whether the Council intended to have gas installed into Council Chambsri. Resolved that 70 12 inch pipes and 70 70 9-inch pipes be procured to replace rotten culvert in Manchester Square. Resolved on the motion of Cr Goodbehere, and seconded by Cr Saywell, That this Council vote a sum of £10 towards the cost of planting and laying oat the Recreation reserve. Proposed by Cr Fowles, and seconded by Cr Thomson, That the lighting committee arrange with Mr Truebridge re lost of supplying gas for street lamps to 10, 11 ox 12 o'clock — Carried. The committee after interviewing Mr True* bridge will submit a report to a special meating of the Council. Proposed by Cr Shearer, and seconded by Cr Thornton, That the lighting committee be instructed to obtain prices of iron lamp posts and report at a special meeting of this Council.— Carried. Resolved, That the Borough solicitor be instructed to collect the license fee from Mr Jou«s (of Palmerstoa), the contractor for carting gas pipes, and failing payment action be taken to recover nme. Resolved, That charitable aid assistance be given to Jane Lowe «s requested in her letter of 20th instant during tbe pleasure of the Council, consisting of two rations per week, The Council then adjourned,
