Pohangina Notes.

| FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] A grand entertainment, which took tho form of a tea meeting, Christmas tree and concert, in aid of the Church of England funds, was held in the Public Hall on Friday night. There was a large atteudauce and the enter tainment will bo tho means of adding a nice little sum to the funrls. Tlic chair was taken by Mr Nairn, who carried out his part in first claFs stylo. Tbe piano, a fine Brinsmead which was kindly lent by Mrs Pearce, added con siderably to the entertainment The eatables were provided by the ladies of the district, about a dozen of whom deserve special meution for the very active interest they took in the affair by preparing the tea and assisting at the tables and generally helping to make the entertainment a success. A large number sat down to tea and made things lively while it lasted. The Christmas Tree, which was very pretty, was the means of disposing of a number of articles. At the conclusion of the tea tbe hall was re-arranged for tbe concert,' which was also very successful and largely attended. The following programme was then gone through : - Pianoforte solo, Miss Hurst ; song, "True till death" Mr Clapham ; song, "In fair Castile" Miss Risk ; pianoforte solo, Miss Patten; Humorous reading, Mr Nairn ; duet, " What are tbe wild wayes saying" Misses Patten and Coburns; song, Golden Shore" Miss Esbensen ; song, " Baby's Love Dream" Miss D. Milverton ; song, " Nazareth" Mr Clapbam ; " Venetian song" Miss Risk ; pianoforte solo, Miss Patten ; song " Thy Voice" Miss Roberts; song, " Holy City " Miss Hnrst ; song, " Madoline" Mrs Penny. The programme concluded by the rendering of God save tbe Queen. Special mention is due to Miss Patten for her very fine playing, she having played most of tbe accompaniments in a manner seldom heard in Pobangina. A bearty vote of thanks was accorded to those who bad so kindly assisted. Tbe Hall was tben cleared and the gentlemen took advantage of the people being together and had a pleasant little dance which was kept up till tbe early hours of tbe morning. The music being supplied by various people present.
