A School Committee's Trouble.
(Per Press Association) Masterton. May 81. The school committee have strong objections to the appointment of Mr Burns, of Petone, as first assistant, in place of their own own choice, Mr Dar rech. Some members allege religions influence is at work. After a warm debate, the committee deputed Mr Hogg to get Sir R. Stout's opinion- Notice was also given to get further legal opinion as to the construction of the Education Act. The Board decided to in3'st on Mr Burns because bis scholastic standing is higher than that of Mr Darroch.
