Concert at Birmingham.

[FROM OUB OWN COBBEBFONDENT. | A concert was held last evening in aid of the Church of England Building Fnnd. Tho attendance was very good. The first item on the programme was an overture by Mrg W. F. Stanley. The song, " True till Death," was given by Mr Cornish ; song, " The Star of Normandy," Mrs D. Mcßeth, who was encored ; duet, Mrs F. Mcßeth and Miss Hitch " Lifes Dream is O'er," (encored) ; song, " The Gift," Miss Laing ; violin solo, Mrs Smith, (encored) ; song, " Island of Dreams," splendidly rendered by Mrs F. Mcßeth ; tho recitation, "My Lady' Leap " (encored), Mr Moss, who gaye " Equestrian Courtship " in response ; song, " Off to Philadelphia," Mr A. C. Matheson, (encored). This con» eluded tho vocal part of the entertainment and an interval of ton minutes was necessary in order to get the stage ready for the play. "Dearest Mamma," by the Beaconsfield amatours, with the following cast of characters :— • Mr din ton, 1 Mr T. S. Cornish ; • Uncle Browser,' Mr D. P. Buchanan; 'Mr Croker,' Ma Roper; 'Mary Jones,' Miss Beattie; 1 Mrs Clinton,' Miss Fry ; ' Mrs Honeywood,' Mra Oldersbaw. This piece was capitally played for an auiatenr company. There was scarcely a hitch ia the performance. The accompaniments to tho songs in tho first part were playod by Mrs Toinpking, Mrs W. F. Stauicy, Mrs Fowler, and Mr Baynes. Mr F. S. Goodbeherc and Mr A. C. MftlLjesou worked hard to malco tho evening's ontevtaiinment a success.
