Horses Needed for the British Army.
(Per Press Association.) Melbourne, May 5, In connection with tbe supply of horses required for tbe British Army re* monnts, the Acting-Premier bas cabled to tbe Agent-General to bring nnder tbe notice of the British Government that Victoria was ready and willing to send regular supplies of horses and fodder. Mr Isaacs, Acting-Premier, has cabled to the Agent • General to ascertain whether it is trne that the War Office is making large purchases of horses in tbe Argentine, and pointing ont that Victoria is a suitable field for the purchases. The reply was that the Government was not purchasing a large quantity, but was merely trying the experiment. The War Office requests tbe price of Victorian horses 15 bands 2 inches high.
