The inquiry into tbe circumstances concerning the fire, which destroyed David Douglas' houso on April 37th was held to-day, and a verdict was returned that the house was deliberately set on fire with a view to defraud the insurance company. Auckland, May 4. Mr Falls, of St. James' Presbyterian Church, is a passenger by the Tasmania 1 to join the China Inland Mission, also the Misses Newton, who are to enter tho Pama Village Mission, India. Gisborne, May 4. At the Waiinata Valley this morning a man named Tom Gordon was found lying crushed by bis horse. He is being ' brought into the Hospital. Wellington, This Day. A number of new stations will also be opened to enable com--1 plete forecasts to be made. 1 Mrs Treder'a bouse, at Kuripuni, near 1 Masterton, was burned.
