Colonial Bank.
u — — The Shareholders' Committee of the Colonial Bank, represented by Mr W. Banron and Major George, of Auckland (says the Dunedin Star), have issued a circular in which they intimate that " it is now felt that, in view of the disclosures contained in the Liquidators' report, prompt steps should be taken (under legal advice) to bring to book those directors and officials of the Colonial Bank who are responsible for the disastrous position of the Bank at date of liquidation. It may be that the liquidators will themselves take the necessary proceedings on proper representations being made to them to that effect, and it is intended to make application to them to do so in the first instance. On the other hand, the shareholders may be driven to approach the Court direct on the subject." In either events a considerable sum will be required for legal costs, and to defray each it is proposed to make a levy of 3d per share, which will be sufficient to cover all charges, including those already incurred.
