The New Zealand Rifle Team.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, April 22. Major Sommerville, chairman of the New Zealand Rifle Association, is experiencing much difficulty in getting a representative team of marksmen to shoot at Bisley owing to the want of funds outside of the Government grant. Those who can go so far are Richardson (Dunedin), King (Oamaru), Simpson (Kaiapoi), Banks (Christchurch), Strachan (Wanganui), Hazard and Webster (Auckland). The Wellington men cannot get any assistance from the public, and it is doubtful whether tbey can go. Major Sommorvillo earnestly appeals to all to subscribe so as to have the colony thoroughly represented, and without two or three from Wellington the Major thinks the team will be considerably weakened, as in Wellington there are some of the bdst shots in the colony, and he doubts the wisdom of taking the team unless they are included. The Mayor is to be urged to take some action.
