The Raid on the Rand.
(Per Press Association.) Capetown, March 30. At a meeting of the South African .League, held here, the proceedings were marked strongly by a patriotic feeling. The speakers denounced the evidence given by Olive Schreiner before tbe Transvaal raid committee of enquiry. Colonal Rhodes estimatas the coat of i:be raid on tbe Rand at a quarter of a million. London March 31. Before the Transvaal Raid Committee Mr F. J. Newton, Resident British Commissioner in Bechuaualand, admitted that he offered to help Dr Jameson, but did not inform Lord Rosmead, exGovernor of Cape Colony.
