The War Between Turkey and Greece.
THE POWERS THREATEN I GREECE. ; THE SULTANS TROOPS ON THE GREEK FRONTIER. (Per Press Association.) Athens, February 28. The Governor of Candia, with an armed force of Moslems, fonght the Christiana. Several were killed on both Bides. The Admiral in command of the combined fleets warned the Govern- j ment not to repeat the action. Colonel Vassos. commander of the Greek expedition, is using influence to induce the insurgents at Selino to release the Moslems captured by them. March 1. King George will probably withdraw bis fleet from Crete, and it is expected be will direct Vassos to retire into the interior to maintain a guerilla warfare, the King being confident the Powers will not suppess this. The Admirals of the foreign fleets prevented a Turkish frigate assisting to repel tbe attack on a convoy trying to revictual at Malaxa. Thirty thousand Moslems at Heraklion are in danger of starving. They are entreating the Powers to hasten a settlement of tbe difficulty. Constantinople, March 1. One hundred and ninety-two battalions of Turkish troops are on the Greek frontier. Tbe Sultan gave twelve million franca towards the equipment of tbe force. London, March 1. The Powers have allowed Greece four days within which to yield to their ultimatum.
