Tbe Palmerston players not having i put in an appearance on Saturday last, when they should have tried conclusions with the Birmingham Club, at Feilding, : the latter team selected sides and had a : practice match. The sides were chosen ' by A. Tompkins and J. Johnston, resulting in a win for tbe latter by fifteen runs. Tompkins' side batted first and made 41 runs, the top scorers beint? G. Shannon 17 and Lundon 11. Johnston's team made 56 runs before the last wicket fell, the top scorers being C. A. J. Levett 29 not out, Johnston 12. Some dissatisfaction was expressed at the non -attendance ofthe Palmerston players, but they evidently decided not to come owing to the rain in the early morning. The is some talk of a team of cricketers visiting Napier about Easter from this district.
