Owing to the uufavorablc weather on Saturday the championship match between Rongotca and Birmingham did uot evcutuate. The match was to have been played at Feilding and the former had left Rongoten. where it was fine, before the arrival of a wire advising them that the weather was t^o unfavorable, owing to the rain, to play the match. However, an impromptu Fcildiug team <^aye the visitors agaiue during the afternoon. Feildiug batted first and were all disposed of for 20 runs. C. C. l Harrison being top scorer with 9. Rougotea then went to the wickets and scored 158 before being disposed of. Those | who reached double figures were Penny 2«, Mclutyro 25, Furnoll 13. Harper 18, Boivatci 15, Broushtou 14. It is only fair to the Feilding team tomeniiou that it was coinposcol chiefly of novices while there was not a siugle first eleven player iv the team, aud they only played with view to alleviating the disappointment of the visitors who expected to meet more worthy opponents. The championship match bttweeu Colyton and Palmerston was commenced on Saturday at Palmerston, but had to be abandoned ou accouut of the rain after Palmerston had scored 75 for 2 wickets (T. Eyre .'iii, Ilodder ;$2 uot out). It has been arranged to play the match ou Saturday, the 13th iust.. on the Palmerston ground.
