CABLE COMMUNICATION INTERRUPTED. (Per Press Associations Wakapuaka, January 7. Late this afternoon the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company received the following message from Port Darwin, in Western Australia : — " Hurricane here and our lines and station damaged. Also considerable damage to other buildings in township. Everything possible will be done to restore communication quickly." A later message says: — " Lines all broken ; nearly every building in the town wrecked. It is still blowing very hard." Adelaide, Jan. 7. During the hurricane which raged at Port Darwin this morning nearly six inches of rain fell. Nearly every building in the township was wrecked and the Eastern Extension Telegraph Co.'s station, which is built of stone and which also includes the Government Telegraph Office, was damaged. The overland telegraph lines are down. Communication is not yet restored.
