Cricket News.
A senior championship match was played on the local cricket ground on Saturday between the Palmerston N. and Birmingham Cricket Clubs, and resulted in a victory for the former by 44 runs on the first innings. The wicket was in good order, but the long grass in the outfield somewhat impeded the efforts of the players. Mosdames Lethbridge and Sorley with their usual kindne33 provided ofternoon tea. Only five players, viz., H. C. Stewart, S. Moore, J. Bartholomew, J. O. Hill, and E. Halcombe, put in an appearance at the time appointed to start. (Per Press Association.) Hobart, This Day. Tasmania in the second innings made 211. Burns 22, Savigny and McLeod 26 each. The Australian Elevon made the 54 required for tbe loss of three wickets. Christchurch, Thig Day. The New Zealand v. Queensland match has been finally arranged, and will be played in Wellington on Dec. 26, 28. and 29.
