Stock Market.

Messrs Abraham and Williams report : — The yardings of cattle daring tbe past week have been heavy. Steers have fallen away upon former prices bufc seem firm at quotations. Ox beef we quote at 14s fche lOOlbs. Female stock has become neglected and as an indication we have recorded a transaction of heifers, fair average quality, afc 35s that last year cost the vendor £2 12s 6d. At Pahiatua on Tuesday, few heifers were yarded. An entry of 100 bead of well bred steers of different ages failed fco reach owners', figures, tbough tbe offer was fully up to ruling rates. Most of the other steers were sold bufc the balk of the business was done privately. Sheep in moderate numbers, were young sorts, and though somewhat small sold freely under the hammer. Fat bullocks, £o 7s 6d ; fat steers to £4 12a 6d ; 2Ayear steers, £2 6s ; 15mos. steers 38s to 44s (tbese later were extra good quality) ; yearling steers, SOs 6d ; 2£» year to 3 year heifers, 355 ; 2-tooth ewes, 5s 9d ; 2-tooth wethers, 6s 4d to 6s 7d. Afc Palmerston yesterday the demand for cattle was quiet, most of tbe business being done privately. Under the ham* mer 2 year and younger cattle made better competition tban anything else. An average number of sheep penned; generally speaking, the quality was medium only. The larger portion of the entry was composed of about 2000 rather small 2 and 3-tooths, of which the bulk of the wefchers were disposed of ! from 5s to 5s sd. The ewes from these, together with about half the entries of other vendors, went back unsold. The demand for fat ewes was weak. We quote — Prime quality fat bullocks, £& ; light weights, £5 ss ; fat cows, .£4 ; fresh bullocks, £4 0s ; 3 to B£*year steers, i' 3 10s ; 2£- year steers, £2 12s ; 2-year do, £2 ss; 15-montbs steers, 335; 18-months heifers, 26s ; separator weaners, 8s to 14s 6d ; fafc ewes, 6s ; forward do., 4s 6d ; 2-tootb wethers (shorn), 5 lld; mixed 2 tooths, in wool, 8s ; forward shorn 4* tooth wethers, 7s 3d.
