Education Board Scholarships.

o Wo (Chronicle) are indebted to Mr W. H. Vcr^ker-Biudon, Chief Inspector ot Schools, for the results of the examination held last week for the junior scholarships offered for competition by ihe Wanganui Education Board. Of the 16 candidates examined 10 qualified, i.e.. obtained the requisite percentages (GO) of the total possible marks, and uot less than 25 per ceut of the possible marks in each subject. It is not known how many scholarships will be awarded, but ifc is almost certain thafc three will be given, and it is quite possiblo thafc a fourth will be given. The female candidates, who, having qualified, do uot get scholarships, will he entitled to free tuition at the Girls' College for two years, while tbe boys who have qualified and do not obtain scholarships will, through Mr W. Empson's offer to the Education Board, receive two years' free tuitiou at the Collegiate School. The following are the names of the ten candidates who qualified, with the marks obtained by each (possible marks 750) and the percentage :— Marks Per
