There was a good attendance of players and visitors (including a number oJ Indies) at the green yesterday. Tbe green was in better condition and much keener than on any previous occasion this season — the result of closer cutting of the grass a.nd heavier rolling. The second contest for Mr Yates' " Feathers " was played off. The game wa9 exceedingly interesting and enjoy, able, and created considerable interest. The play was fair all round, and the game was won on the last head — Carthew James Thomson Curtis Dickson Bray (senr.) rates (skipj 20 Wylie (ak(p) 18 In the previous contest Yates' team won by 30 points to 12. On Wednesday next n team from Palmerston will play a Feilding team for the " Feathers," the local team beingThomson Young Saywell Yatea (skip) The final tie in the first round for Mr J. Bennies trophy was played off yesterday afternoon between Mr B. Gosling and Mr E. Goodbehere, the former securing a win by 21 to 13. The Winter bowling Club, having a credit balance in hand, have decided to present a set of " Feathers " for team competition amongst members of the Feilding Club only. To-morrow (Friday) two teams from Wellington will play a friendly game here with the local players.
