WOOL PRICES FIRM.
(Per Press Association.) London, Dec. 2. Wool is firm and spirited. Wellington, This Day. The first of the wool auctions opened at noon. Small atsendance. Competition lifeless. Best crossbreds brought BAd, inferior 31d to $d. The sale is proceeding.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Ltd.) report under date of December 2nd, 1896, as follows :— Wool.— The sales progress firmly. Since close of last sales washed and scoured merino superior are par at Ad per lb higher. Greasy merino superior and washed, and scoured merino medium and inferior, fine greasy washed and scoured crossbred, and medium greasy crossbred, are _d to ld per lb higher. Slipe, medium washed and scoured crossbred, coarse greasy washed aud scoured crossbred, greasy merino lambs superior, medium and inferior, and greasy crossbred lambs, nre Jd to ld per lh higher. Up to date 85,000 bales have been sold. Butter — Market steady. Fine quali. ties range in value from 102s to 106s per cwt.
