Holmes, the trainer of fche defunct Ngatnere, and C. Jenkins, the rider, returned to Palmerston on Saturday. Jenkins says that Ngafcuere galloped very well for three furlongs in the Cap, after which he shortened in his stride, gradually going back from fche field. Before entering the straight, being of the opinion that something had gone amiss with bis mount, Jenkins [tailed him up and dismounted, when Ngatnere fell dead.
