Mr Lethbridge at Fowlers.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr F. Y. Lethbrid.ge, a candidate for Parliamentary honors, addressed a wellattended meeting oi electors in the Town Hall, Birmingham, last evening. Mr A. H. Tompkins was voted to the chair. The address was similar to the one given at Feilding. He thought the Government should have power to take lands, but should object to any lands being taken near towns while so much land is idle in the back blocks. At the close of the candidate's address the Chairman in* vited questions. Mr Tnohy : Is the candidate in favor of State aid to Roman Cutholic Schools. Mr Lethbridge : In the present financial circumstances we cannot afford it. If we help the schools in the large towns, the schools in the back blocks will suffer. Mr Tuohy : Is the candidate in favor of an international system of bi-mettal-ism. Mr Loth bridge : This question has been studied by the giant intellects of Europe and America, and is still unsettled. I do not see how I can arrive at any decision upon the subject. Mr Tuohy: are you in favor of compulsory «o-operation. Mr Lethbridge : No ; I believe in freedom in everything. Mr Morton proposod a vote of thanks to Mr Lethbridge for his address. This was seconded by Joseph Shapleski and on being put to the meeting was carried. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings, After the meeting n good number stayed behind and formed a committee, which will meet nest Monday at 2 o'clock in the Town HalK _^_»_
