Rangiwahia Notes.
«. (From Oar Own Correspondent.) Ruraoar3 are current that the Anglican Church people will hold their opening services on the 15 th inst. in the Rangiwahia schoolroom, when it is expected the Rev. Mr Davys, of Feilding, will occupy the pulpit. The 1.0. G.T. Lodge held its regular weekly meeting last Saturday, when, owing to the inclement weather, there was only a small attendance. Circulars were received from the Secretary of the N.Z Alliance, relative to the political Prohibition campaign. It was resolved to instruct electors how to vote at the general election for local option. The following persons were elected to fill their respective positions : — Bro. F. Hancock, C.T. ; Bro. J. Small. V.T. ; Bro. A. Hickfori, P.C.T. ; Sister E. Moffatt, F.S. (re-elocted) ; Bro. T. Mcßean, C. ; Bro. J. Redpath, S. (re-elected) ; Sister E. C Moffatt, T ; Bro. M. Martin, M. ; Bro. F. Bloomfield, D.M. ; Sister E. B. Moffatt, A.S. ; and Bro. F. Hailstone, Q. The Domain Board has made an improvement in the recreation ground by having a running track properly ploughed up, harrowed and rolled. It should be in good order for the next sports, and amateurs will find it a great help to them while training, although it is a great pity that a round course could not have been made covering the greater portion of the ground, and then it would not have interfered or spoilt the cricket or football grounds. If a little money was devoted to the filling up the low grade, a beautiful running course could be made which could then hold its own with any in New Zealand. The Wesleyan Church folks are now busily engaged preparing a programme for a concert which it is intended to hold in a few week's time. Sqme little excitement is expected here on 11th inst. as there are two nominations for the Rangiwahia riding, viz., Messrs T. Pemberton and T. Moffatt. The latter is strongly supported by the back settlers, aqd rumours are already current that Mr Pemberton has decided not to contest the seat for councillor. Considerable surprise ia expressed here by tbe Liberals on hearing that two Liberal candidates intend contesting the Rangitfkei seat against 099 conservative. It is. time the Liberal party was better organised, if such a sad, mistake is to take place. It is extreme folly for either of the two Liberals to expect a return, as it splits the Liberal vqta ?
