(Per Press Association.) Sydney, October 29. Late files by the lnail steamer from the East show that the revolt iv the Philippine Islands continues and that some hard fighting has taken place. A great many rebels have been killed and hundreds arrested, including many leading men. Numbers were shot in the public square as a warning to others. A body of 8000 rebels hold a fort, but ore gradually being surrounded by the Spanish troops. The Premier has received a cable message from London announcing the death of Sir J. O. Inne3, Jnd^e of New South Wales. He obtained leave souio months ago and went to England for the benefit of his health. At the half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Sugar Company the profits were shown to be L 85.545, to which has to be added L 88.300 brought forward from the previous half-year. A dividend of 10 per cent was declared and L88.74G carried forward. The report was adopted. This Day. It is understood the steamship owners have increased the wages of seamen, firemen and trimmers by £1 per mouth from to-morrow. Melbourne, This Day. The Dayspring board has decided to negotiate with the Autralasian New Hebrides Coy, to provide a maritime service till the end of the year 1897. The Minister of* Mines has arranged to cable the quarterly gold returns of the colony to the leading English papers. Obituary — Arthur Bayley, who discovered Bayley's Reward claim at Coolgardie. Adelaide, Oct. 80. The revenue for the September quarter shows an increase of L 50.000 as compared with the corresponding quarter of last year. The railway receipts are wholly responsible for the increase, the expenditure showing a comparative increase of L 37.000.
