Q :- (Per Precis Association.) Wellington, Oct. 29. A general meeting of the shareholders of the Bank of New Zealand was held thin afternoon ; Mr Watson (President.) in tbe chair. The balance-sheet for the yaar ended 81st March, 1896, shows a net profit of £52,192, but which, on being amended on adjustment by the Colonial Auditor, and Bince approved by the Colonial Treasurer, was reduced by £12,492, leaving a balance to the credit of the profit and loss account of £40,083. The balance sheet of September 30th has shown a satisfactory profit for the half-year. The President said he thought the time was not far distant when the shareholders would receive 5 per cent, interest on the call now made, and that tbe remaining call would rest as security in the shareholders' pockets. The motion for tbe adoption of the report and balance-sheet was carried unanimously.
