Mauy statious in the interior report tbat the thermometer is registering ovor 100. At Brewarine to-day's register was 110. Melbourne, Oct. 2b. Tbe report tbat the British Squadron in North American waters is to be increased to twice its present strength, is officially denied. Brisbane, Oct. 30. A telegram from the Gladstone dis trict states the effect of the drought is being severely felt. The water holes are dry and cattle are dying of thirst.
