Tbe report tbat the British Squadron in North American waters is to be increased to twice its present strength, is officially denied. Brisbane, Oct. 30. A telegram from the Gladstone dis trict states the effect of the drought is being severely felt. The water holes are dry and cattle are dying of thirst.
