At the Synod the Bishop was asked to order a form of prayer to be used in the churches for God's guidance to the people of the colony at the approaching general election. Hawera, This Day. During the storm on Friday Jeremiah Tabene, working on the cooperative works at the Elthnm Waitotara road, on the Patea river, was struck by a limb of a tree and scalped. His mates carried him eleven miles, but he died on the way.
