Feilding Bowling Green.

The local bowling green was opened yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance of bowlers, amongst those present being visitors from Palmerston and other townships. The President of the Club (Mr W. A. L. Bailey) in a short speech welcomed the visitors and declared the green open for play. Six rinks were formed and the customary opening match (President v. Vice- President) was then proceeded with, the result being that the President's side won by 33 points. The green is in capital order, and its condition reflects greatly to the caretaker's (Mr H. Worsfold) credit. Refreshments were liberally supplied to the players and visitors, and also to the onlookers, amongst whom were a large number of ladies. The opening ceremony was a great success in every way, although the bigb wind and dost were rather unpleasant at times.
