Wool Sales.
(Per Press Association.) LiOndon, October 18. At the wool sales 310,000 bales were catalogued, 157,000 of which were sold for the Home trade and 105,000 for export, including 7000 for the Uaited States, and 56,000 bales were held over. Sydney, October 19, The wool sales closed with an increasingly brisk demand. Later catalogues displayed a considerable improvement in quality, and last week's prices were fully sustained, with an occasional rise of a farthing for superior parcels of both merino and crossbreds. A feature of the sales was the large purchases on German account. Melbourne, October 19. At the second wool sale an attractive catalogue was offered and cleared. The bidding was spirited. English and Continental buyers were the principal operators. The prices showed a decline on last year's opening rates of three farthings for the bulk of greasies, and a penny for scoureds. At the same time prices were relatively above those obtained at the London sales now progressing. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. have received the following cable from their London house, Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Co.: — " Tho sales closed with good competition at unchanged rates ; 57,000 bales have been held over."
