(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 19. Tbe Court of Appeal reserved its decision in the application for suspension of sentence in the case of Kegina v. Annie Brown. An extraordinary Gazette prorogues Parliament until 19th of November. This is, of course, the ordinary formal prorogation. Auckland, Oct. 10. The rowing season was opened by a procession of boats from the various rowing clubs on the Waitemata. The water was too rough for the manoeuvres to be successfully performed and some of the gigs had all they could do to keep from swamping. This Day. J. M. Mowbray aged 84, of the firm J. M. and J. Mowbray, a resident in Auckland for 34 years, died this morning after a lingering illness. Featherston, Oct. 19. Yesterday morning one of the most popular settlers in the Valley, Mr Duncan McMaster, of Matawhero, passed away, the cause of death being cancer. The deceased who has been ailing for some months past, was a general favourite, and is to be buried in the Tuhitarata Private Cemetery to-morrow. Dunedin, October 19. The Invercargill Garrison and Invercargill City bands arrived from the South to-night, and the Wellington Garrison and Stanmore bands arrived ,from the North to take part in the band com petition, which commences on Wednesday.
