Mauawatu Giicket Association.
A meeting of delegates to the Manawatn Cricket Association was held in the Feildine Borough Council Chambers on Saturday evening last. Present— Feilding Club, H. C. Stewart; Birmingham, C. A.J. Levett; Oolyton, D. Entwisle; 1 Palraerston, — Withers ; Cheltenham, A, Barrow; A. H. Tompkins (secretary) and A. G. Carty (treasurer). Mr Levett | occupied the chair. A communication was received from the Cheltenham Club applying for affiliation to the Association.— Granted. Messrs C. H. Burnett and C. J. C. Still wrote accepting the office of vice president. The Marton and Bulls Clubs wrote stating they did not intend to join the Association this year. The Secretary reported that he had written to the Wellington Association, requesting that country players be given an opportunity to play in the match against the Australians in the Wellington match on November 11th, 12th, and 13th. He had received a reply to the effect that the Wellington Association was willing to meet a team representing country clubs in a test match to be played at Wellington on November 9th, to enable the former to judge of the latter's form. He had written to Waaganui, enquiring if they could send five men to play with six men from Mana watu against Wellington, and had received a reply in the negative. He then wrote to Wairarapa to the same effect, receiving a reply in the affirmative. Kesolved, on the motion of Mr Carty, seconded by Mr Withers. That a committee consisting of Messrs Tompkins, J, Entwisle, and Stewart select six players to represent Manawatu with five from the Wairarapa against Wellington on November 9th. Mr Carty 's resignation as treasurer was accepted with regret, and Mr H. C. Stewart was elected to fill the vacancy. The sub comniitte appointed to revise the rules reported they were unable to meet. The champion certificate was presented to the Colyton's Club's delegate by the Chairman. Mr J. Entwisle, Captain of the Colyton Club, suitably thanked the Association for the presentation. The following players have been selected to represent Manawatu (with five from Wairarapa) against Wellington : -J. Entwisle (Colyton), Cooke and Hodder (Palmerston), Clayton and Stewart (Feilding), Tompkins (Birmingham). The following fixtures for the season 1896-97 were approved : — Nov. 21.— Palmerston v. Feilding, at Feilding ; Colyton v. Rongotea, at Colyton ; Birmingham v. Cheltenham, at Cbetenham. Nov. 28.— Colyton v. Feilding, at Feild ing ; Cheltenham v. Rongotea, at Rongotea. Dec. 12. — Birmingham v. Palmerston, at Feilding ; Feildiog y. Rongotea, at Rongotea. Dec. 19. — Cheltenham v. Feilding, at Feilding ; Colyton v. Birmingham, at Birmingham. Jan. 16. — Rongotea v. Palmerston, at Palmerston. Jan. 23. — Colyton v, Palmerston, at Palmerston ; Feilding v. Birmingham, at Birmingham. Jan 30. — Cheltenham v. Palmerston, at Colyton ; Kongotea v. Birmingham, at Feilding. Feb. 6. — Cheltenham v. Colyton, at Colyton.
