(Per Press Association.) Newcastle, Oct. 14. A curious poisoning case has occurred at Newcastle. A bottle of eye lotion was broken and it was supposed tbe contents were spilt over cups and saucers which were afterwards used by a family named Gower. The mother died and the others recovered. Brisbane, Oct. 14. While putting a ton of ballast in the iron bucket which was being lowered in I the hold of the vessel, the tackle broke and the whole weight fell on a man named Rourke and crushed him to an unrecognisable mass. Sydney, This Day. Obituary — Annie Taylor, actress. Tbe Primate, representing the Anglican Church of Australia and Tasmania, has cabled to the Dean of Canterbury that the Church in the colonies mourned the death of Dr Benson, the late Primate of England. Adelaide, This Day. Tbe Government deny that Mr Playford intends to resign.
