Meat and Fruit Export Trade.
(Per Press Association) London, October 14. Forty quarters of chilled Queensland beef have arrived sound, but of wretched colour, and experts regard the shipment as a failure. The Agents- General, convened by Sir S. Samuel at the instance of Mr Playford discussed the propriety of applying for a special duty on dried apricots. Mr Playford said the Oalifornian dried fruits paid duty though preserved goods were free. It was generally agreed the alleged injustice to the Australian article was unfounded and resolved to cable their respective Governments to that effect before interviewing Mr Chamberlain. On the motion of Sir S. Samuel the Agents-General resolved to meet every month and discuss their common interests. mmmmmm _ mmmm _ mmmmmmm
