St. Bridget's Church.
There was an unusually large congre gation present yesterday at the services of the above church. Mr St. Laurence Toner, who presided at the organ, per formed, before service commenced, Mascagni's " Ave Maria " (Cavallicia Rusticana) in a very feeling manner. The Rev. Father Patterson, in the course of bis remarks, tendered his thanks to those who kindly volunteered their services in the choir, and expressed himself highly pleased at the goodly attendance of members present, including Mrs Duncan Cameron and Mrs Kane (a visitor to Feilding), and had to congratulate Mr Toner on his efforts so far. The rev. gentleman then took for his text, " He that eats unworthily," and delivered a very eloquent sermon. During the offertory, Mr Gamble, ot Palmerston North, sang " The Holy City " in a very pleasing manner. Gounod's " Sanctus " was rendered with great devotional and impressive fervour by Mr Toner ; the same gentleman also sang Gounod's " Agnus Dei." At Benediction the choir gave Dr Newham's "OSalutaris" and Ross' " Tantum Ergo," Mrs Kane leading. All those present were afforded a musical treat of a high classical order. The incidental music to the mass was Rossini's, which was done full justice to bv Mr Toner.
