Feilding Athletic Club's Sports.

.» The twenty-first annual meeting of tbe Feilding Athletic Club will be held as usual on Boxing Day, on the Oval. The official programme will be published ia our next issue and it will then be seen that prizes on a most liberal scale are again offered, totalling the handsome sum of .£l6B for twenty-four events. There is no question but this is one of the most popular sports gatherings held in New Zealand and is looked forward to by numbers of athletes in Australia as well, as the best in this colony, with the natural result that all the. events have hitherto been well competed for. In analysing the programme it will be found that the substantial amount of £20 is given away for the Manchester Handicap of one mile, £15 being as first prize; the Sheffield Handicap £17 is allotted with £10 as first prize ; other foot races are, also, dealt with in a similarly liberal manner ; while good prizes are offered for the one, two and three mile bicycle races. These latter events are rapidly growing in the public favor and create a considerable amount of interest. Two amateur events have again been inclnded, in the programme, so that all classes of athletes are well provided for. With the noted excellent management of these sports we may expect even a larger attendance of the public, than on former occasions.
