The Ladies' Medal in connection with the Palmerston Golf Club was played for yesterday a.fc the Polo grounds, Palmers ton. Eight ladies took part in the contest, which resulted in MrsMacintirc winning th? trophy with thu score of 78 (handicap 15, net score 6fy ; Mrs Wilson '2nd, score 65 (scratch) ; Miss W. Hankius '<hd, score 7u (handicap 12, uetscoro 6S). After the conclusion of the medal contest an approach competition for a prize presented l>y Mr R. S. Abraham, consistiug of a pretty brooch in the shape of a golf club with a pearl representing a golf ball, which was manufactured by Mr Hugli. The distances were 20, 30, and 40 yards. Iv the first-named distance Miss G. Stanford played best, in the second Miss W. Hankins, and in the third Mrs li. S. Abraham, while Mrs Cobb was the best in the 40 yards with an excellent stroke. The winners played off at BO yards, and Miss Stanford won the brooch. The approaching tournament will be a great success, there being a large number of entries for the competition. The Rangitikei and Feilding Clubs are send ing their champions besides other players. — Standard.
