Afc a meeting oi the New Zealand Nfttive's Association a motion was carried in favour of the Association donating a cud to be competed for at the Championship Meeting of the New Zealand Rifle Association. Two Maoris were fined L 5 each and costs L 4 18s or a fortnight's imprisonment in gaol for unlawfully gathering oysters. They pleaded ignorance of the law. Invercargill, Sept. 22. In the Supreme Court the Grand Jury threw out the Bill against Leslie Aschby for the allege-d charge of administering a drug to Susannah Beck. Dunedin, Sept. 22. Fonr of the seamen of the ship Oamaru who had been let off on Saturday for disobeying lawful commands, were up again to-day. They refused to go to work. They were sentenced to 14 days' hard labor. Two of them declared they would still persist in not working.
