THE APITI BRIDGE.

Since writing on this subject yesterday, we have learned that the opening ceremony will be held on the 15th or 16th of October, whichever of these days may be most convenient for the expected visitors. Although the settlers of the surroundine districts, and their representatives in the several local bodies concerned, have done their parts well in the matter of supplying funds under the Loans to Local Bodies Act, yet in order to complete the good work a further sum of about £500 is needed. It is hoped that on the auspicious occasion indicated the Government, by their representative then present, will be in a position to state that a supplementary grant in aid of the amount named will be made. _____ _____
