THE BOROUGH ELECTIONS.

The elections yesterday resulted in the return of Messrs W, G. Haybittle, P. Thomson, and John Gould. As usual Mr Haybittle headed the poll. With the exception of Mr Cooper all of the candidates had before filled seats at the Council table. The gentlemen elected must feel much gratified at the result of the polling, as it shows their fellow burgesses have renewed confidence in them. We hope and trust that Mr Cooper will not be disheartened at his defeat, but will come forward again on some future occasion when better fortune will await him. Mr H. Worsfold is one of tbe oldest and most experienced of our Borough Councillors, and his defeat will, doubtless, be submitted to with a good grace. Mr Worsfold has done much good service in the past and we can assure him that will always be held in grateful remembrance.
