(Per Press Association.) Napier, Sept. 10. The Otago representatives defeated Hawke's Bay by 25 points to eight. The local men scored in the early part of the spell, but were afterwards quite out of it owing to want of training aud combination. Wellington, September 9. The following team has been selected to play against Otago on Saturday :— Full-back, Lawes ; three-quarters, Gage Roberts, and Roache ; five- eighth, Bennett ; half, Crawfurd (captain; ; wings, McKenzie and J. Kelly; forwards, Fanning, Young, Pender, Rhodes, Pauling, Calnan and Macanally. The forwards average about 13 stone. Great interest is taken in the match and with fine weather the attendance of tbe public is likely to be a record for a football match here- The Wellington men were tbe favorites a couple of weeks ago, but the betting is now even.
The Manawatu and Wanganui reps, will try conclusions at Palmerston N. tomorrow. _^
