Palmerston Exhibition.

The Art and Industrial Exhibition now being held in Palmerston N. was opened last evening by the Premier, the Hon R J. Seddon, in the presence of a very large attendance. The exhibits are very numerous and are of a first class description. Amongst tbe prize takers we notice the Rongotea Dairy Company have secured first prize for butter and Mr B. Tremewan, of Bunnytborpe, has secured first prize for baking powder. The promoters of the ex hibition have every reason to be satisfied with the result of their efforts to show what can be done in the direction of a display of the industrial art, and visitors are all astonished and loud in their praises of the quality and quantity of the exhibits.

The Industrial Exhibition was opened by the Premier to-night, who dealt at considerable length in bis speech on tho history of exhibitions and the great strides Palmerston had made during the last 20 years. The exhibits chiefly comprise homo manufactures, most of whicli are intended for Wellington. The display was very interesting and creditable, the entries numbering 600. The cekibra tied Rontgen "X Rays" are iv working order at the exhibition
