Colyton Cricket Club

The annual tnt otiug of the above was held in the Colyton Hotel, on Saturday evening last, there being a good attendance oi members, Mr Reade in the chair. The minutes of the last annual meeting and, also, special ineetiogs were read and confirmed. The report and balance sheet for the past year were thon read showing that the club had been successful iv winning the championship lor the second year in succession, having played 6 cup matches, winning 5 and losing I— J. Entwisle holds the best average, both tor bowling and batting with 3*7 and 12.6 respectively. The receipts for the year are £26 ss, and the expenditure .£l9 11s 4d, leaving a credit balance of £6 13s bd, which it is proposed be devoted to laying water on the ground. The report was adopted. A proposal from Mr Crump for amalgamation of Cricket Associations of the Horowhenua aud Oroua Counties was read and after considerable discussion it was resolved to take no action in the matter until after the meeting of the Union. A hearty vote of thanks was given to the ladies for their kindness in providing refreshments for thoßall and on the ground. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year— President, C. Darnell, Esq., ; Vice-Presidents — Messrs John Stewart, Edward Smith, David Barrett, John Neilsson, and Thomas Thorkall — Secretary and Treasurer, W. Power, (re elected) — match committee, J. Entwisle, J. B. Priugle and the Secretary. Delegates, Messrs Eeade aDd D. Entwisle. The election of captain was hold over until the opening of tho season. The prizes were presented by the chairman as follows : — Batting average -J. Entwisle, Mr Corby's bat, with 12 # 6 ; Mr Reade, Mr Petberick's whip, with 9 0. Bowling average — J. Entwisle, Mr Simpson's case of birds, with 37 ; W. Entwisle, Mr Ross' pipe, with 4-10, and Mr Bram well's bat tot most catches with 10,- D. Kulivinle, both Mr Barrett's gold medals and Mr Pcarce's album for best fielding. The usual vote to the chair closed the meeting.
