Exchange of Courtesies by Members.
(Per Press Association) Sydney, Sept. 6. The Factories Bill after it had undergone recommittal and slight araendujent, passed its third reading. A bone of contention in the Assembly | had been the consideration of the Rtnendrnentß to the Coalmine Bill by the Legislative Council. That body increased the hours for adult labour from ei»lu to tf-n, and the .Labour members wore wrathful. The Government was anxious not to jeopardise the Bill, which has been so lons needed, by a too strong insistence, and suggested nine hours ay a compromise. Hon members have » pretty conceit in throwing about playful adjectives to one another, with a more or leas display of ferocity, and beiore the compromise was adopted the Government thmitened to abandon the Bill if any other course was taken. Certain honourable members were indicated by such ppiihefs as " baboon," "liar," " skunk," " blackguard."
