Perils of the Sea.
SUFFERINGS OF A SHIPWRECKED CREW. ONE BOAT'S CREW MISSING. (Per Press Association.) Sydney, This Day. Details of the abandonment of the Flora Stafford show that she had a c&rgo of 1900 tons oi Seaham coal, which caught fire on June 6th in mid-ocean. The flames gained rapidly, and tbe ship bad to be abandoned. Two days after the crew got away the three boats were separated by a typhoon. Tbe Captain's boat, containing six men, after much suffering, made the island of Papua, but the natives were hostile and drove tnem off with spears. They made another island, and sent two men ashore. The boat hung off the coast for five days, but the men failed to return, and it is feared they both were killed. They could get no provisions, but finally reached tbe Island of Men to, where they were kindly received and forwarded to Manilla. The second boat, with tbe boatswain and six men, was driven ashore on the Island of Surigao, and fiually reached Manilla safely. The third boat, containing 4 men, is still missing.
