(Per Press Association.) Auckland, Sept. 5. At a meeting of officers of the Garrison, Col. Goring presiding, re the championship meeting of the N. Z, Rifle Association it was resolved to interview the Mayor and secure his co-operation. .las. MeHugh, a well-to-do farmer, of Fapatohoi, who lived alone was found dead in his dwelling. He is believed to have a brother and sister in America. The Hon. E. Blake has declined the judgeship ; also his appointment on the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. News has been received of a severe earthquake being experienced in Iceland. Bcmbay, Sept. 5. The Ameer of Afghanistan proposes to introduce a large scheme of universal vaccination.
